AIS Announces the Return of Mark Facciani as Vice President of Sales, Mid-Atlantic

Hudson, MA – January 19, 2016 – AIS is excited to announce the return of Mark Facciani to the sales team. Mark was instrumental during his previous eight years at AIS, and will continue to be a key sales leader in the DC Market. As Vice President of Sales, Mark will lead dealer and A&D development for the Mid-Atlantic, along with supporting the sales representatives in the market and overseeing the D.C. showroom. “Mark has a history of success with AIS. He was a key leader during a high growth period and we are thrilled to have him back. We expect a great deal from the D.C. market,” said Ben Maxwell, Senior Vice President of Sales, AIS. Mark brings 16 years of sales experience, previously working for National Office Group and Global Office Furniture. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University.

AIS Hires Tracy Reed as Vice President of Marketing

Hudson, MA – January 19, 2016 – AIS is pleased to announce the hiring of Tracy Reed as Vice President of Marketing. In this role, Tracy will work with our executive team to lead the AIS’ marketing strategy on all fronts. Tracy Reed has over 20 years of experience in Marketing, Sales and Product Line Management. She brings to AIS notable industry experience including leadership roles at Haworth, Trendway and Herman Miller where she was influential in the design, development and launch of new products as well as other marketing and brand initiatives. Tracy graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing and received her MBA from Grand Valley State University. "Tracy is a trailblazer; she is our first VP of Marketing and will be tasked with overcoming some of the company's biggest challenges. She has the knowledge and capabilities to take on these tasks and have a huge impact at AIS. We look forward to her future accomplishments," stated Rob Lazarus, Executive Vice President, AIS. AIS Receives Two OFDA Dealer Choice Awards for Workstations/Systems and Casegoods

Hudson, MA – June 15, 2016 – AIS is the proud recipient of the Office Furniture Dealer Alliance (OFDA) 2015 Dealers’ Choice Survey for two categories; Workstations/Systems and Casegoods. This marks AIS’s ninth consecutive year being recognized by OFDA for excellence.

The Dealers’ Choice Manufacturer of the Year Awards were presented to AIS CEO/President, Bruce Platzman and Executive Vice President, Rob Lazarus on June 14th in the AIS Chicago Showroom during the NeoCon show. Over 1,100 Dealers responded to the Manufacurer of the Year survey. AIS received awards in two of six categories.

About the Dealer Manufacturer Satisfaction Index Survey Introduced in 2012 as an upgrade to the Dealer Manufacturer Satisfaction Index Survey (DMSI), the revamped survey aims to provide product-category-level feedback from dealers of all sizes on the full range of support they receive from their primary non-aligned suppliers, including more specialized furniture manufacturers. Dealers were asked to rate their top-volume non-aligned suppliers in each of six product categories recognized by the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA).

The award is based on a carefully structured, an anonymous dealer poll that measures six functional areas of manufacturer performance that are of greatest importance to a diverse cross-section of dealers throughout North America. The award program recognizes those manufacturers that deliver the most consistent and effective overall support to dealers in all of those areas in each of size product categories.

AIS Supports Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island with Office Furniture Donation Valued at $155K

Hudson, MA – January 22, 2016 – AIS donates office furniture valued at $155,000 to the recently renovated Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island office in downtown Boston.

AIS provided design, project management and installation services for workstations, chairs, tables, storage and a private office in December 2015. This donation helped offset remodeling costs, providing the organization with the ability to grant approximately 20 more wishes in 2016.

“We are sincerely grateful to AIS for the remarkable donation of office furniture. This generous donation has created such a positive change to our work environment in the Boston office, while allowing us to maintain low overhead costs and keep our focus on granting wishes for children with serious illnesses,” said Charlotte Beattie, Chief Executive Officer, Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

In January, Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island hosted an open house at their renovated office. The event allowed AIS employees involved with the project to meet the Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island team. AIS Hosts Manufacturing Day at New State of the Art Facility

Leominster, MA – October 2, 2015 – AIS, an award-winning manufacturer of commercial office furniture based in Leominster, Massachusetts will open its doors to the public on October 2nd in celebration of Manufacturing Month. The company is a Shingo Prize award winner, recognized as an early innovator in sustainable, lean manufacturing. The event is part of an effort to show the importance of manufacturing as well as to draw attention to the outstanding career opportunities that manufacturing can provide. Facility tours, demonstrations, presentations and discussions are planned for the event. Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor, Karyn Polito, and City of Leominster Mayor, Dean J. Mazzarella, will be in attendance at the event.

The event will be held at AIS’ new consolidated facility, “Tucker,” located on Tucker Drive in Leominster, MA. The 588,000 square foot plant is a state of the art manufacturing site, which allowed the company to consolidate five Massachusetts locations into one, increasing efficiencies and lead-times. The facility currently houses the warehouse, distribution, shipping, receiving, woodshop, assembly, engineering and management. Approximately 400 employees are currently working in this location, with an additional 200 relocating into the building within a year.

AIS Wins Award at IIDA Fashion Meets Finish Show

Hudson, MA – July 29, 2015 – AIS is the proud winner of the “Runway to Street Chic” award at the fourth annual International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Fashion Meets Finish Show in Union, New Jersey.

The “Runway to Street Chic” award was presented to AIS and Ware Malcomb Architects for creating the best wearable garment at the show. Participating contestants were required to design an outfit based on the “Seven Deadly Sins.” AIS Territory Manager Cathy Daler teamed up with design firm Ware Malcomb Architects New Jersey to create a dress representing the deadly sin of “lust.” Taking approximately two months to make, the design was constructed with materials that are used directly in AIS’ manufacturing process. The outfit included a hat, dress and jewelry that were made from seating mesh, Momentum Silica fabric, seating foam, copper wire, tubing and plastic grommets. New York actress, Alison Saltz, wore the completed design down the runway during the judging process.

Sixteen teams from the manufacturing and A&D community participated in this year’s show. IIDA presented four award categories including “Best Use of Material,” “Best Interpretation of Theme,” “Runway to Street Chic,” and “Best Construction.” This year’s celebrity judges included Tyler Wisler of HGTV Design Star, Vanessa Deleon from Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible and Helen Castillo from Project Runway. The runway fashion show was hosted on June 25, 2015 in the Kean State STEM Building. Proceeds raised from the event went to local design programs at Kean University, Brookdale Community College and New Jersey Institute of Technology.

AIS Ipsen Bioscience Project wins IIDA Best Research Lab Design

Hudson, MA – April 27, 2015 – AIS is proud to announce that its Ipsen Bioscience project was named “Best Research Lab Design” at the 2015 IIDA New England Interior Design Awards. The design included the AIS Matrix panel system within the new Ipsen headquarters located in Cambridge, MA. AIS won the bid with Peabody Office due to lead-time, price and quality of the product.

Ipsen Bioscience’s state-of-the art research environment features AIS Matrix system with ergonomic calibrate components and height adjustable surfaces. The Matrix design fit nicely with the overall green, light-filled and open space. The furniture was installed during the summer 2014 and Ipsen officially opened Ipsen Bioscience in early april 2015.

“Peabody worked with Payette and Ipsen to address the change from high paneled, larger work stations and offices to a more efficient use of space for all departments. Work stations were developed to maximize a smaller footprint with creative and functional storage solutions. AIS’ Matrix with height adjustable work surfaces, dual monitor arms and other ergonomic tools made spaces more flexible and functional,” stated Christopher Peabody, President of Peabody Office Furniture.

AIS and ANEW Team Up for an Impactful CEU

Hudson, MA – March 26, 2015 – AIS was proud to host two CEUs featuring ANEW’s Founder and CEO Rose Tourje in their brand new showroom in Washington D.C. AIS has been a sponsor of ANEW for the past three years.

Rose Tourje lead two CEU courses tailored to designers and buyers from the commercial office furniture industry. Her class titled “W.A.S.T.E.” is an acronym for We Are Stewards of the Earth. She started both sessions by saying, “we want to educate and raise awareness about the severity of our waste stream within our industry alone. This is not a doomsday presentation.” The underlying message of the class was to see office furniture through a different lens and take into consideration the “afterlife” of a product through responsible design.

Following the 45 minute presentations were engaging question-and-answer sessions. Some attendees stayed nearly an hour after the class sharing ideas on reducing waste, their experience donating or repurposing excess furniture and the challenges still left to overcome.

During the question-and-answer session, Rob Lazarus, Executive Vice President at AIS, provided input to AIS’ involvement with ANEW’s mission. “AIS has done some really nice projects that were based around simply donating product to places in need. There is a good feeling that comes along with charities that come out and say ‘thank you.’ It is really rewarding and the right thing to do.”

Rose Tourje began ANEW after a successful career in the commercial interior design industry. After witnessing mass destruction of perfectly reusable furniture when a large company relocated to new space Rose found a bigger purpose for herself. She started ANEW on a mission to educate people and industries in their disposal practices and how these practices impact the world.
