AIS Systems Aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum - 70 Stations of AIS Synergy on Historic WWII Aircraft Carrier

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum has selected AIS systems for employee workspaces aboard the historic World War II aircraft carrier, turned museum. The Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum closed in 2006 to undergo extensive repairs and improvements. Among the improvements, Intrepid chose AIS’ newest product, Synergy for the majority of workspaces to create an open, light environment within the confined space.

Working with AIS dealer, Charley Loughery from Total Office Interiors, PA, AIS was able to produce and deliver the project mock-up within a 5-day turnaround time, from the date of request. In comparison to competitive products, AIS’ freestanding desking solution was increasingly cost-efficient and could easily meet the strict project deadlines. AIS DiVi was also incorporated to create private spaces, where seclusion was important.

“We are honored to be able to assist with this remarkable project. When the Intrepid Museum contacted us, we were confident our new desking system would be the perfect fit,” said Michelle Warren, Executive VP of Sales and Marketing for AIS. “Utilizing furniture within a ship can be complicated. With Synergy we are able to create low, freestanding modular spaces that allowed light to filter throughout the workspace and fit perfectly within the confined areas.”

“The AIS team provided not only a quality product, but accomplished the job in an unusually tight time frame,” said Susan Marenoff, Executive Director of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. “The architecture of an aircraft carrier is so entirely unique and can pose challenges for mainstream projects, however it was seamlessly executed and the result is beautiful office space within the framework of the ship.”

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will reopen to the public on Saturday, November 8th. Tickets can be purchased online at

AIS Awarded New York State Contract for Office Furniture and Seating

AIS announced today it has been awarded the New York State Contract for Office Furniture and Seating. The new state contract allows end-users to choose their dealer, unlike previously where a specific dealer held the contract for the manufacturer. This translates into further savings for end-users should they choose AIS dealers/products, as AIS systems are lower priced over the competition.

"We’re very excited to be participating on the New York State Contract. Contract furniture buyers utilizing AIS through the contract will realize significant savings on Systems Furniture and Office Seating products," said Michael DuGally, President of AIS.

"The Office of General Services (OGS) has produced a very well thought out contract. Buyers can now choose a dealer, giving them greater selection and in the end a more competitive offering. The previous contracts were dealer controlled, and manufacturers had to rely on one or two dealers to cover the entire State. This new contract really levels the playing field for mid-size companies like AIS, and exposes our incredible value proposition to more NY State customers," continued DuGally.
